Christmas Tree Skirt

So I know I've been absent from the blog for quite some time. I've had a few things keeping me occupied, but I won't bore you with all the details. Obviously the blog has been low on my priority list and as a result it's been struggling. :)

We are so excited for Christmas around here. I cannot believe it is just around the corner. I actually did this project last year before I started writing on this blog, but I thought I'd share it now.

Last Christmas was the first year that we had our first "real" tree. It's artificial, but the reason I say "real" is that the tree we had used previously to was just a small, 4 ft tall one. After getting our new full-sized tree, I started searching for a tree skirt that I liked. I had a really hard time finding one that I could justify spending any money on. However, when I saw Miss Mustard Seed's tree skirt I fell in love. It wasn't difficult, but it did take a few hours to make. The instructions can be found here.

Eric wanted to add a little color so we did a red and cream striped skirt. I alternated 2 rows of red, 3 rows of cream. I think that combo turned out looking nice.

Knob Adventure.

So I realize that my blog has been severely lacking in the new project department. I've just been too darn busy lately. So busy my fingers are a bit sore, and it feels like my thumb nails might just fall off. You see, among other things, I have been busy making knot knobs for my Etsy shop.

Since I haven't been posting much lately on projects, I wanted to share an interesting story from my knob-making escapades. A couple Thursdays ago, I got a message from an Etsy buyer saying that she wanted to buy 24 knobs from me and needed them ASAP. I had just finished and shipped a couple orders for a total of 24 knobs just that morning so I didn't have any made up ready to go. I told her I could send them out by Monday and to let me know if that would work.

Mailbox Fix

When we moved into our house we inherited a struggling mailbox that was tipped to almost a 45 degree angle thanks to a drunk driver. Three of our neighbors had adjacent mailboxes which were also on life support and a while ago we had talked about buying/making a mailbox post to hold all four of the mailboxes that occupied the area. I really wish I would have gotten a before picture to show you really how pathetic it looked but Eric was anxious to get the job done and had the old mailboxes out in no time.

Happy 4th of July!

We recently purchased and installed this flag post. I love how patriotic it makes me feel. Hope you all have a great holiday!

DIY Distressed Mirror

As most of you know, I was recently featured on Ucreate. For my guest post, I put together this tutorial of my RH knockoff mirror. Like this one pinned here.

I agreed to not publish the complete post on my blog for awhile, but in case you missed it on Ucreate, here it is.

A few years ago I bought a large mirror that was a great price, but unfortunately pretty average in the looks department. I used it in our old apartment; however, after we moved, I decided the mirror needed a makeover before I could get excited about displaying it again. Using Restoration Hardware's salvaged boat mirror as my inspiration, I was able to replace a so-so mirror with something that I love.
